One Force vs Lady Elite Warriors (17-U)


Both teams came out early, seeking to find their offensive rhythm. One Force amped up their defensive pressure and went on an early 6-2 lead with a steal and a basket by Zybreayziah ”Mop” Alexander. Both teams eventually settled offensively and began matching baskets. The game was tied at 19 when Tiana Williams scored on a sequence of driving layups. One Force responded and pulled ahead 25-19 after a tough finish by talented guard Albany Wilson. One Force then pushed the pace as Wilson went on to score three consecutive baskets to close the half and take a 35-29 lead into the break. Alexander had 12pts and Wilson 8pts at the half for One Force. Williams tallied an impressive 14pts at the half for the Lady Elite Warriors (LEW).


The second half was a very competitive affair as both teams received solid play from a variety of players. One Force came out aggressive and forged a 48-36 lead off the efforts of Crystal Baker and “Mop” Alexander. However, LEW was up to the challenge and battled back mainly off the play of Williams. The One Force lead was cut to three at 52-49 when Williams again converted another slashing drive to the basket. The two teams went back and forth as One Force took a 59-54 lead on consecutive baskets in the post by Baker. LEW again rallied and took the lead on another Williams basket. Baker then scored again and the game went into overtime tied at 62!


One force scored the first 5 points in the overtime and held that advantage by playing tough defense and converting free throws. They went on to the 69-64 win. One Force had a balanced effort with Wilson scoring 16pts, Baker (17pts) and Alexander (18pts). LEW’s Tiana Williams led all scorers with an impressive 34pts.
